Plot: Guna (Dhanveerraah), a henchman, sets out to take revenge against goons Karamlal (Aditya Menon) and Papanna (Sampath Raj). There is a pinch of family sentiment and a backstory to why he has targeted them.

Review: Guna (Dhanveerraah) is a gangster, who works as a henchman to a businessman, running around seeking ‘settlement and revenge’. When a serious issue knocks on the door, Guna has to take a step forward to make sure that his enemies are taught a lesson they would never forget. Add a personal motive to this, and some mother sentiment, and that’s Vaamana for you. The film also goes on to justify the title, Vamana, and it works.

Vamana is a high-octane action drama, narrated with a non-linear screenplay, which does more harm than good. The film comes together only in the last 30 minutes as it stitches all the pieces together, but one has to sit through a lot of conflicts and confusion to reach till the peak moment. The placement of emotional family moment is very good. In fact, in what can be called as a rarity in mass masala films, a lot of characters in Vamana have depth, including the small ones. But following the same-old template and multiple slow-mo action shots, make this a yet-another routine film. The narration and presentation are basic, thus making the viewing experience not vert engaging. The story is very clumsy because of the screenplay, and some scenes lack clarity. The dialogues rhyme, but make no impact.

Dhanveerraah gets max mass moment in Vamana and he has put it to good use. While he excels in action sequences, his dialogue delivery needs some improvement. He has every capacity to be a crowd-puller, and has to make good use of the same. Reeshma Nanaiah is a talent wasted, as she appears only briefly. Sampath Raj and Tara get well-written roles and they play it with finesse.

Vamana is a blood-soaked emotional drama. The film is a feast for action lovers with mother sentiment working as a bonus, Vamana is strictly for mass movie fans.
